Advanced blood testing at Holon in Glasgow

Advanced Blood Tests in Glasgow

Track your body from the inside out with testing that covers hundreds of markers. We can test everything from general markers like liver, kidney and hormone function, to more advanced insights like heavy metals, mycotoxins, immune reactivity, and gut health. We’re one of the first in the UK to offer this level of in-depth blood tests in Glasgow.

What is it?

Our general full blood count tests cover standard health markers and are accompanied by a doctor’s comments. We operate an on-site health clinic with phlebotomists every Wednesday. We also offer an advanced range of tests that require more than a blood sample to assess your wellbeing.

Mould Test

A MycoTOX test or mould blood test checks for mycotoxins — the toxins produced by mould. Mycotoxins are a common toxin in the environment and have been linked with a host of chronic health issues and an increased risk of experiencing depression and anxiety. If you're worried you may have been exposed to mould, we may recommend a comprehensive mycotoxin test.

Toxic Heavy Metals

A toxic heavy metal test can evaluate exposure to potentially toxic metal elements like mercury, arsenic and tin. Toxic heavy metal exposure can lead to skin toxicity and decreased bone health. These elements usually enter your body via food, air and water and are prominent in industrial areas. A healthcare professional or doctor can advise you to take a heavy metal test if you’re displaying symptoms of mercury poisoning or other heavy metal poisoning.

How Does it Work?

An advanced test can be a good starting point in identifying any points of concern, allowing you to receive more tailored treatment. Here is the typical process followed when deciding on what test you require:

  • Book an appointment: You can call or email to request a specific blood test or schedule an appointment with our functional medicine doctor.
  • Discuss your specific concerns: You'll collaborate with our functional medicine doctor to discuss your main health concerns and associated symptoms. This is to try and pinpoint where your symptoms are coming from.
  • Identifying the appropriate test: Once we’ve established your symptoms and other factors, we’ll suggest the best test to help us confirm the root of the problem. We may suggest blood tests or more advanced tests based on your specific needs.
  • Sample collection: Our wellness specialist will order the relevant test and we'll let you know how to proceed with the sample collection. Our team has experience taking blood samples on-site, meaning we can conveniently perform your blood test at our Glasgow clinic. If you need to provide a different sample, such as urine, stool or saliva, you'll have to send those samples directly to the lab yourself.
  • Sample testing: The samples are sent off for testing. Turnaround times for blood test results and others can depend on the type of test being run. An estimated wait period for your test results will be provided during your appointment.
  • Get your results: As soon as the results are ready we email you a copy. You can then schedule a follow-up appointment with our functional medicine doctor to discuss your data and the potential next steps more thoroughly.
